Wellspring Community Church is pleased to be leading this month’s gathering of We are Church Confessing.
WHERE: Pappajohn Sculpture Park, 1330 Grand Ave, Des Moines
WHEN: Sunday, January 6 from 1:00pm to 1:30pm
We are church confessing.
We gather to publicly bear witness to the violence being committed against immigrant and Latino/a communities, Black communities, religious minorities of many traditions, and lgbtq peoples.
We gather to publicly confess the role of white churches, across the nation—through silence or active support—in enabling a political climate in which communities of color, religious minorities and queer people are being degraded and targeted in word and deed.
We gather to publicly commit ourselves to postures of prayerful resistance for the sake of proclaiming justice for and the dignity of all the members of this diverse civic body.
We gather to pray and confess and to bear witness to the sacredness of all human life that our spiritual and religious traditions call us to honor and protect.
We are not partisan. We are not protestors. We are church confessing.
